24-Hour Pack
Uniform
     Long-sleeve, two-pocket blue work shirt
     6-pocket, Army-style, dark-blue field pants
     Yellow ASRC t-shirt
Poly-pro long underwear set (no cotton)
Rain gear; tops and bottoms
Watch
Sturdy and properly-fit hiking boots
Daypack or small internal frame pack ("24-hour" pack)
Two 1-liter water bottles
Cold (no cooking required) food rations for 24 hours
Small metal cup or small pot
Headlamp and flashlight
Extra batteries and bulbs for light sources
Lighter, matches and a small candle
Folding pocket knife
Personal first-aid kit with medical form
Toilet paper and other personal items
Reusable space blanket
Disposable space blanket
Pen and 3x5 notebook
Plastic whistle on lanyard/cord (without ball/pea)
Safety "woodshop-style" glasses
Small roll of duct tape
5'x7' tarp (or larger if you are tall)
1 roll flagging tape
2 pair latex/vinyl gloves
2 large locking-D carabiners
5 large, heavy-duty plastic trash bags
Extra wool socks and knit hat
Sturdy leather gloves
Orienteering compass
7 feet of 7-mm or 8-mm prusik line
20-25 feet 1-inch tubular webbing
Approximately 50 feet of parachute cord
Water purification
Helmet (optional)
48-Hour Pack
Large internal-frame* pack or soft duffel (pack preferred to duffel)
Additional clothing appropriate to the season
Additional food and water for 48 hours
Sleeping bag with stuff sack
Sleeping pad
Spoon

(usually shared in small groups on trainings)
Bear bag (rope and stuff sack)
10' x 12' tarp (we hardly if ever use tents)
Stove, pot and fuel
*Because we often work in heavily-wooded areas,
internal-frame packs are recommended but
external-frame packs are acceptable.
