Terms 24 hour pack - a backpack with enough gear for you to be comfortable in any conditions for 24 hours 48 hour pack - a larger pack similar to the 24 hour pack but with enough gear for an entire weekend Adult - Anyone in the program over 21 years of age ASRC - Appalachian Search and Rescue Conference AT Marathon - A yearly tradition where members are challenged to hike all 40 miles of Maryland's Appalachian trail BOD Meeting - Meeting with fellow ASRC team members BSA - Boy scouts of America COQ (aka CQ, CoQ) - Call out Qualified - the training level necessary to participate on search missions ERV - Emergency Response Vehicle - Our team's vehicle that is equipped with search and medical gear First Responder - Red Cross Medical training required for becoming FTM or above FTM - Field Team Member - The highest level of training that a minor can attain FTL - Field Team Leader - Training level beyond FTM, available for 18 year olds and up General Meeting - Meetings at Mt. Zion UMC fellowship hall for all visitors and members (starts @ 7:00 pm) MSAR - Maryland Search and Rescue MSTTF - Maryland Search Teams Task Force Observer Delivery - MSAR Fundraising activity in Columbia area Officers Meeting - Meetings for members who hold
positions but open to anyone usually starting @ 6:30 pm Subject(s) - The person(s) in need of search and rescue assistance Venture Crew - A coed branch of the Boy Scouts of America for youth 14 and up and Adults over 21 Youth - anyone in the program between the ages of 14 and 20 years old |
